What are greetings?

Greetings are fun ways to say hello or how you're feeling when you meet someone or see them again.

Imagine you’re playing with your best friend at the park. When you see them, you might smile and shout, “Hi!” That’s a greeting, it helps you know that person is there and ready to play.

Sometimes, greetings are short like “Hello” or “Hey,” but they can also be longer, like “Good morning! How are you today?” These help people start talking and get to know each other better.

When We Use Greetings

  • You might say "Hi" when you see your teacher in the morning.
  • You could shout "Hello!" to your brother when he comes home from school.
  • Even your dog gives a greeting, it wags its tail and jumps around when it sees you!

Greetings are like the first step in a game. They make everyone feel welcome and ready for what’s next!
