What are government officials?

Government officials are people who help run a country or city, just like how teachers help run a classroom.

Imagine you and your friends start a club in school. You all decide what rules to follow, who will be the leader, and who will do what job. That’s kind of like how government officials work, they help make decisions for everyone in a bigger group, like a city or country.

Like a Team Leader

Think about it like being on a team. You might have someone who counts how many people are playing the game, another person who makes sure the rules are followed, and maybe one person who helps solve problems when things get tricky. Government officials do similar jobs but for more people, they help make laws, count votes, or even build roads.

They’re Chosen by People

Just like you might vote to choose your favorite classmate as team leader, people in a city or country vote to choose their government officials. These leaders work together to make sure everything runs smoothly for everyone.

Sometimes they have big jobs, like running the whole country, but at heart, they’re just helpers who make life easier for all of us!
