What are glyphs?

Glyphs are special symbols that help us write and read things.

Think of them like letters on a keyboard, but not just letters, they can be whole words or even pictures!

Like Blocks in a Lego Set

Imagine you have a big box of Lego blocks. Each block is different: some are red, some are blue, some are shaped like squares, others like triangles. Now imagine each of those blocks has a special meaning, like a letter or a number. That’s kind of what glyphs are in writing.

Or Like Signs on the Road

Have you ever seen signs that say “Stop” or “Yield”? Those are like glyphs too. They’re symbols that help us understand messages quickly, just like letters do when we read a book.

So whether they look like letters, numbers, or even pictures, glyphs are the building blocks of writing, and they make it easier for us to communicate!
