Global value chains are like a big team working together to make something you use every day, like your favorite toy or snack.
Imagine you want to build a LEGO castle. You don’t have all the pieces at home, some come from a factory in China, others are made in Brazil, and maybe the box is printed in Germany. All these places work together to get the finished product into your hands. That’s a global value chain, different countries do parts of the job so everyone can make something cool.
How it works
Each country does what they’re best at. Maybe one place cuts the wood for the LEGO pieces, another paints them, and a third packs them up. This way, everything gets done faster and cheaper, just like how your mom might do some parts of baking a cake while you do others.
Why it's fun
It’s like having friends from all over the world help you build something amazing, even if they’re not in the same room!
Examples
- Coffee beans are grown in Brazil, roasted in Italy, and drunk in France, all part of one big process.
- Your phone was designed in California, built in South Korea, and sold in India.
