What are games?

Games are fun activities where people try to win by following rules and having a good time.

Imagine you have a box of building blocks. You and your friend each get some blocks, and you both try to build the tallest tower. That’s like playing a game, you’re trying to be better than the other person, but it's still fun because you're both using your imagination and creativity.

What Makes Something a Game?

  • Rules: Just like how you have to take turns when you play with blocks or toys.
  • A Goal: Like trying to build the tallest tower or being the first one to reach the end of a path.
  • Trying to Win: You want to be better than someone else, but it’s still friendly and fun.

Sometimes games are like races, you run as fast as you can to get to the finish line. Other times they’re like puzzles, you have to figure out how to solve them before anyone else does.

You might not even realize it, but every time you play with toys, draw pictures, or even chase each other around the house, you're playing a game!
