A freemason is like a special group of friends who have a secret club with cool rules and fun activities, just like having a lemonade stand that only your best friends know about.
What do they do?
Imagine you're playing hide-and-seek, but instead of counting to ten, you do a special handshake or say a magic phrase. That's kind of what freemasons do when they meet. They have secret ways of greeting each other and doing cool stuff together, like solving puzzles or building little models.
Why are they called "masons"?
The name comes from old times when people built big buildings, like castles or churches. These builders were called masons, because they used stone to make walls and towers. Over time, some of these masons started a special group where they shared secrets and taught each other new skills, kind of like learning how to build the best treehouse in the neighborhood.
So now, even though most freemasons don’t build castles anymore, they still keep the tradition of being part of a fun, secret club with cool rules.
