What are floors?

A floor is like a big, flat piece of ground that you walk on inside a building.

Imagine you're in your favorite room at home, maybe the living room or your bedroom. That hard surface under your feet is a floor. Now imagine there’s another room above it, like your brother's bedroom. The floor of his room is right above yours, and between them is a wall. If you go up a staircase, you reach that higher floor, just like climbing to a new level in a fun game!

What floors do

Floors help keep rooms separate but also connected. They’re like the base of each story in a house or building. Some buildings have many floors, and you can move between them using stairs or an elevator, which is like a magical lift, but not actually magic!

Different kinds of floors

Some floors are made of wood, like in your house, while others are made of tiles or concrete, like in a school. You can even walk on soft floors, like in some gyms or play areas. Floors are just like the ground you know, but inside buildings!
