What are flexible bones?

Flexible bones are bones that can bend and move, just like your arms or legs when you play.

Like a Pretzel

Imagine you have a pretzel, it’s twisted, but it still stays strong. That’s kind of what flexible bones are like. Just like the pretzel can twist without breaking, some bones in our body can bend and move without snapping.

The Real Example: Your Nose

Your nose has some really flexible bones inside it. When you blow your nose hard or tip your head back to laugh, those bones shift and move, kind of like how a sponge changes shape when you press on it. Even though they're bones, they’re not as stiff as the ones in your arm or leg.

So, just like some parts of your body are soft and squishy, some bones can be bendy too, making them flexible bones.
