What are fireworks?

Fireworks are like big balloons that pop and shine in the sky.

Imagine you have a balloon filled with confetti, when it pops, all the confetti flies out in bright colors. Fireworks work kind of like that, but instead of confetti, they shoot sparkly bits into the air, making bright lights, colors, and sometimes loud noises.

How They Work

Fireworks are made with special powder inside them. When you light a fuse, which is like a tiny matchstick that burns slowly, it starts a reaction inside the firework. This makes the firework burst open, sending out all those sparkly bits in different directions.

What They Look Like

When fireworks go off, they can look like stars, flowers, or even animals, depending on how they’re made. Some fireworks are just one big flash, while others show off many colors and shapes, it's like a party in the sky!

Sometimes you hear a boom when a firework goes off, which is like a really loud snapping sound, just like when you drop your favorite toy on the floor.
