What are fallback responses?

Fallback responses are backup answers that help you when your main answer doesn’t work out.

Imagine you’re trying to tell a story to your friend, but you forget what happens next. Instead of getting stuck, you say something like, “Okay, let’s just pretend the dragon turned into a cat.” That’s a fallback response, it keeps the fun going even when you don’t remember everything perfectly.

Like Having a Second Plan

Think of it like having two pockets in your pants. One pocket has your favorite candy (your main answer), and the other has gum (your fallback response). If you can’t find the candy, you can always chew on the gum instead, and still have something tasty to enjoy.

Fallback responses are used a lot when things go wrong or aren’t clear. Like when a robot is talking to you and doesn’t understand your words, it uses a fallback response to keep the conversation going by saying something like “I didn’t get that. Can you try again?”

They’re just like having a second plan in case your first one doesn’t work, helpful, simple, and always ready!
