What are extra steps?

Extra steps are little actions you do to get from one place to another, like climbing a ladder before you can reach the top of a slide.

Imagine you're at a park and want to play on your favorite swing. But the swing is behind a wall, and there's no door. To get to the swing, you have to climb over the wall first, that’s an extra step! You’re not just going from one place to another; you're doing something extra to make it happen.

Like Building a Tower

Think of it like building with blocks. If you want to put a red block on top of your tower, but there's a blue block in the way, you have to move the blue block first, that’s an extra step. Without moving it, you can’t place the red one.

Sometimes, people take extra steps because they need to fix something, get tools, or even just wait for their turn. These little actions might not be exciting on their own, but they help make the bigger picture work, like how you need to climb over that wall before you can swing!
