What are explodes?

Explodes are when something gets really, really big and breaks into pieces all at once.

Imagine you have a balloon full of air. You keep blowing it up more and more, until poof! It bursts and the air goes everywhere. That’s kind of like what happens with explodes.

What makes something explode?

Sometimes things get too tight inside, just like when you tie a balloon too much. If there's a lot of pressure inside, like in a pop bottle, and then you shake it up or add some extra energy, whoosh! It goes from being closed to all open at once.

How it feels

Think about when you drop your favorite cup on the floor and it cracks, that’s a little explode. Or when you light a match, and suddenly there's fire everywhere, that's also an explode, just bigger!

Explodes are like a surprise party for things inside, they get to stretch out and go flying!
