Emphatic gestures are special hand or body movements that show how strongly someone feels about something.
Imagine you're telling a story to your best friend. You say, "I love ice cream!" But then you do this: you throw your arms up in the air and jump around like you’re dancing with a scoop of chocolate ice cream. That’s an emphatic gesture, it makes your feeling even bigger!
Like When You're Excited or Mad
When you're really happy, you might clap your hands together or do a little happy dance. That's an emphatic gesture because it shows how excited you are.
If someone takes your favorite toy and you’re really mad, you might shout, "No!" and stomp your feet like a dinosaur. That’s also an emphatic gesture, but it shows you're angry instead of happy!
These movements help others understand how you feel, just like when you draw a big smiley face on a paper to show you're happy!
