What are electric cars?

Electric cars are cars that use electricity instead of gasoline to move.

Imagine your toy car, when you press a button or wind it up, it zooms around the floor. Electric cars work in a similar way, but much bigger! Instead of winding them up by hand, they use batteries inside them. These batteries store electricity, just like how your toy car stores energy when you wind it.

When you turn on an electric car, it uses the electricity from its battery to power electric motors, which make the wheels spin, just like how your toy car’s wheels spin when it moves!

Electric cars don’t need gas stations. Instead, they go to special places called charging stations, where you plug them in like a phone charging. It takes longer than filling up with gas, but it's still pretty quick, just like waiting for your favorite video game to load.

Some electric cars can even be charged at home, while you sleep!
