What are dust mites?

Dust mites are tiny creatures that live in our beds and pillows, like little helpers hiding in the soft places we rest.

Imagine your bed is a cozy home for these tiny friends, they’re so small, you can’t see them with your eyes. They eat dead skin cells that fall off your body when you sleep, kind of like how you might snack on a cookie while doing homework.

Dust mites are about the size of a grain of sand, and they look like little white bugs with legs. They’re not scary, they just want to live comfortably in your bed, just like you do!

Sometimes, people sneeze or get itchy because of dust mites. Their tiny poop and the bits of their skin can float around in the air and land on our noses or eyes, that’s what makes us sneeze or scratch.

But don’t worry, they’re not trying to make you sick! They’re just doing what little creatures do, finding a cozy place to live.
