What are digital technologies?

Digital technologies are tools that help us send and store information using numbers and symbols, just like a secret code.

Imagine you have a toy box full of different toys, each one is unique, but they all fit together in special ways. Digital technologies work similarly: they use 0s and 1s to represent everything from your favorite song to the pictures on your phone.

Like a Super Smart Pencil

Think about writing with a pencil. When you write on paper, it’s just marks, no magic, just ink. But digital tools are like a super smart pencil that can remember what you wrote and even help you rewrite or send it somewhere else.

For example, when you take a picture with your phone, the phone uses digital technology to turn light into numbers so it can store that image and show it back to you later, just like a magic trick, but with real math!

A Big Toy Box

Digital technologies are everywhere: your TV, your computer, even your smartwatch. They all use numbers to help you play games, talk to friends, or watch videos, making everything easier and more fun!
