What are digital clocks?

A digital clock is like a regular clock that tells time using numbers instead of hands.

Imagine you have a toy watch that shows the time as "12:00" or "3:45", that’s a digital clock! Instead of seeing little hands moving around, you see numbers on a screen. It's like when you look at your phone and it tells you what hour it is.

How Digital Clocks Work

A digital clock has inside it a tiny brain (called a microchip) that counts seconds, minutes, and hours. Every second, it updates the numbers on the screen so you can see the time clearly. Some digital clocks even light up in the dark or change colors to show morning, afternoon, and night.

You might have seen one at school, maybe your teacher uses a digital clock to know when to start class or when recess is over!
