It can be hard to make friends when you don’t know how to connect with others or feel shy around them.
Imagine you have a favorite toy, maybe it’s a ball, a doll, or even a robot that talks. When you play with it, everything feels just right. But if someone new comes over and wants to play too, sometimes it can be confusing or even scary. You might not know what game to choose, or you might feel like your toy isn’t yours anymore.
Like Trying to Share a Sandwich
Making friends is a bit like sharing your favorite sandwich with someone else. At first, you’re happy eating it all by yourself, no need to worry about anything else. But when someone new shows up and wants to take a bite too, it might feel like you have to give up part of what makes you happy.
Sometimes people feel nervous or scared in these moments because they don’t know how the other person will react, will they be kind? Will they laugh at you? It’s just like not knowing if your sandwich will taste better with a new friend or not.
