What are different shapes?

Shapes are the different ways things can look when you draw or build them.

What Shapes Look Like

Circles are like a round ball, think of a pizza or a wheel. They have no corners, just one smooth curve all around.

Squares are like a box with four equal sides, imagine a tile on the floor or a chocolate bar that’s cut into pieces.

Triangles are like slices of pizza, three straight sides and three corners. You can see them in flags or even in your toy blocks.

What Shapes Can Do

Some shapes roll, like circles, think of a ball rolling across the floor. Others stack, like squares, you can pile up books or bricks one on top of another.

Triangles are strong and don’t tip over easily, just like the roof of a house. You can even find them in your toy blocks when you make towers!

Shapes help us understand how things fit together in the world around us, from cookies to cars, from toys to trees!
