What are defects?

A defect is like a tiny mistake that happens when something is made, it makes things not work perfectly.

Imagine you're building a tower with blocks. You stack them one on top of the other, but sometimes a block might be a little crooked or not fit just right. That’s a defect, a small problem in the way something was built that can make everything wobbly or even fall down.

Like a Broken Toy

Think about your favorite toy. If it works perfectly, you're happy. But if it has a defect, like one of its legs is shorter than the others, it might not roll straight or might tip over easily. That's just like how some things, like phones, cars, or even cookies, can have little mistakes in them that make them not work exactly as they should.

Little Mistakes Make Big Differences

Sometimes these defects are so tiny you don’t even notice them. But sometimes, they're big enough to change how something works completely. Just like a block tower with one crooked block can be very wobbly, or even fall over! A defect is like a tiny mistake that happens when something is made, it makes things not work perfectly.
