What are cybersecurity breaches?

A cybersecurity breach is when someone sneaks into a computer or phone to steal information or cause trouble.

Imagine your toy box is like a computer. If a friend comes in without asking and takes your favorite toys, that’s like a cybersecurity breach, they got in without permission and took something important.

Sometimes, computers have secret doors, called passwords or codes, that let people inside. If someone figures out the code, like when you forget to lock your toy box, they can walk right in and take all your toys (or your information).

Once they're inside, they might steal your favorite toys (like your personal information), change the rules of the game (like making your computer slow or broken), or even leave a mess so everyone knows they were there.

Sometimes, they’re just playing a prank, other times, they’re trying to get your toys for themselves. That’s why it's important to keep those secret doors locked and safe!
