What are countable infinite sets?

A countable infinite set is like having an endless line of toys, but you can still count them one by one.

Imagine you have a big bag full of marbles, so many that no matter how long you count, you never run out. That’s an infinite set. Now, if you can match each marble to a number (like 1, 2, 3, and so on), then it's a countable infinite set.

Think of walking up a never-ending staircase. Each step you take is like counting one more number, 1, 2, 3... You’ll always have the next step to go to, but you can still say how many steps you’ve taken so far. That’s just like a countable infinite set, it goes on forever, but every item has its own special number.

Now imagine two bags: one with marbles and one with cookies. If both have an endless amount of items, but you can still pair each marble with a cookie (like 1 marble to 1 cookie), then both are countable infinite sets, even though they're different things!

So, even if something never ends, as long as you can count it step by step, it's a countable infinite set.
