What are construction costs?

Construction costs are the money you need to build something new, like a house or a toy box.

Imagine you want to build a treehouse in your backyard. You need wood for the floor, nails to hold it together, and maybe even paint to make it look pretty. All of these things cost money, that’s what we call construction costs. It's like when you're making a sandwich: bread is one part, cheese is another, and each part has its own price.

What Counts as Construction Costs?

  • Materials: Like the wood or bricks used to build something.
  • Labor: The people who do the work, like carpenters or painters, also cost money because they need to be paid.
  • Tools and Equipment: Sometimes, you need special machines or tools to help build things faster.

If you’re building a treehouse, construction costs are like buying all your ingredients and hiring someone to put it together. The more complicated the treehouse, the higher the cost, just like how a big sandwich with lots of toppings is pricier than a simple one!
