What are cone cells?

Cone cells are special cells in your eyes that help you see colors and details clearly.

Imagine your eye is like a superhero’s power, cone cells are one of the powers that let you tell the difference between a red apple, a green leaf, and a blue sky. When light hits these cone cells, they send messages to your brain, telling it what color or detail you’re seeing.

Think of your eye as having three types of cone cells, each like a detective who only looks for one kind of color:

• Another detective is good at finding green.
• The third detective is good at finding blue.

When these detectives work together, they can tell your brain about all the different colors around you. It's like having a team that solves the mystery of what color everything is!
