What are complex systems?

A complex system is like a big group of friends who all do their own thing but also help each other out, and that makes something cool happen together.

Imagine you're playing with blocks. Each block is simple, just a little rectangle. But when you put them together, some on top of others, some next to each other, they can make towers, bridges, or even whole cities! That’s like a complex system: many simple parts working together in different ways to create something bigger and more interesting.

In a complex system, every part is important but not the only one. Like when you're building with blocks, if one block falls, it might make the whole tower wobble, but the rest of the blocks still help keep things up.

Also, in these systems, sometimes little changes can lead to big results. It’s like if you nudge just one block a tiny bit, poof! The whole tower could come crashing down. That’s how complex systems surprise us with their cool and sometimes wild behavior.
