What are coalition governments?

A coalition government is when different groups come together to make decisions as a team.

Imagine you and your friends are playing a game, but no one wants to be in charge. So, you all agree to work together, each person has some say, and you all try to win the game as a group. That’s like a coalition government!

In a real city or country, sometimes there are many different parties, like different teams in your game. If no one party wins enough votes on their own, they might have to team up with others to make decisions.

For example, if the blue team gets 40% of the votes and the red team gets 35%, but the green team gets 25%, the blue and red teams might join forces to beat the green team. Together, they form a coalition government, like a big team made up of smaller groups.
