What are capabilities?

A capability is something you can do, like run fast or draw a picture, and it helps you achieve what you want to do in life.

Imagine you have a toy box full of different toys: cars, blocks, balls. Each toy has its own special capabilities. A car can zoom around the room, blocks can be stacked high, and a ball can bounce up and down. These are all things they can do, their capabilities.

Now imagine you're playing a game where you have to build a tower as tall as you can. If you pick the right toys, maybe some big blocks or even a special “super block” that’s extra strong, your chances of building a really high tower go up. Those are your capabilities too! They’re like the tools in your toolbox.

What makes something have a capability?

Just like how different toys can do different things, people and machines also have their own capabilities based on what they're made for. A robot might have the capability to lift heavy things, while you might have the capability to sing a song or solve a puzzle.

Capabilities are just special kinds of powers, real ones, that help you do cool stuff every day! A capability is something you can do, like run fast or draw a picture, and it helps you achieve what you want to do in life.
