A building is like a big, strong toy box that people live or work inside.
Imagine you have a favorite toy box at home, it’s where all your toys go when they’re not playing. Now picture that toy box being super tall and made of bricks, wood, and glass instead of cardboard. That's almost like a building!
What Makes a Building
A building has four main parts:
- Walls, Like the sides of your toy box, they keep everything inside safe.
- Roof, Just like the lid on your toy box, it keeps out rain and snow.
- Doors and windows, These are how people go in and out, or look outside while playing.
- Floor, This is where you stand, just like the bottom of your toy box.
Buildings Do Different Jobs
Some buildings are for sleeping, those are called houses. Others are for working, like a school, where kids learn. There's even a kind of building that stores lots of things, like a warehouse, which is like a giant storage room for toys, food, or clothes.
Buildings are everywhere, and they help people do all sorts of fun and important things every day!
Examples
