What are bricks and rooms?

Bricks and rooms are simply the small building blocks that come together to make your house a place where you can live, sleep, and play. Imagine your home is like a giant toy box made of LEGO bricks. Bricks are those hard, rectangular blocks that stand up tall. They are strong enough to hold everything up without falling down. You might touch them every day if you have a brick wall or a brick chimney. They feel rough and cool against your hand, just like the sidewalk outside.

How Bricks Hold Hands

Bricks do not stay alone for long. They stack on top of each other like books on a shelf. Between them is a sticky stuff called mortar. It acts like glue, holding the bricks together so they become a team. When you see a wall, you are really seeing hundreds of these brick teams working hard to keep the rain out and the warm air in.

Rooms Are Big Empty Boxes

A room is what happens when you put walls, a ceiling, and a floor around an empty space. It is like taking a big cardboard box and putting it over your head. Inside that box, you have your own special spot for toys, bed, or dinner. A bedroom is where you rest. A kitchen is where food appears. Even though the room looks empty at first, it has invisible lines drawn in the air to tell you where the walls end and the space begins.

Together, bricks make the shell of your house, and rooms are the cozy pockets inside that shell. You live inside those pockets every single day!
