What are bluestones?

Bluestones are special kinds of rocks that were used to build a really old and cool place called Stonehenge.

Imagine you have a big pile of different colored building blocks in your toy box, some red, some yellow, some blue. The bluestones are like the blue ones in that pile. They came from a faraway place, almost like they were brought by a giant truck (but way, way longer ago).

How Big Are They?

Bluestones aren’t just tiny pebbles, they’re more like big rocks you could sit on! Some of them are as tall as your dad. People had to move these huge rocks from one place to another, which was a lot of work.

Why Are They Called Bluestones?

Well, when the light hits them just right, they look blue, kind of like the sky on a sunny day. That’s why we call them bluestones, because they look blue sometimes!

So, bluestones are big, special rocks that helped build Stonehenge, and they can look blue when the sun shines on them just right!
