What are biomes?

A biome is like a big, special neighborhood where plants and animals live together based on what kind of weather they like.

Imagine your backyard, that's a small version of a biome! Some backyards are sunny and dry, like the desert near your friend’s house. Others are wet and green, like the park you play in every day. A biome is just a bigger version of this, it could be a forest, a desert, an ocean, or even a snowy mountain.

Different Types of Biomes

There are many kinds of biomes, each with its own rules:

  • The desert is hot and dry, like when you forget to bring water on a long walk.
  • A forest is full of trees and animals that live in the shade, just like how you feel cozy under your blanket.
  • An ocean is deep and blue, it’s like swimming in a giant pool where fish are always playing.

Each biome has its own weather and plants and animals. They all work together to make a special home for living things, kind of like how your room feels different from your friend’s room, but both are homes!
