What are behaviors?

Behaviors are things people do that show how they feel or what they want.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, maybe a stuffed animal or a train set. When you're happy, you might laugh and run around with it. When you're upset, you might throw it on the floor or hide under the couch. Those are behaviors, they show how you're feeling inside.

Like a Robot with Feelings

Think of behaviors like a robot that moves based on what it sees or feels. If the robot is happy, it dances. If it’s sad, it sits still. You’re kind of like that robot, but instead of buttons, you have feelings!

Sometimes people do things without thinking, like when you're excited and jump up and down. That's a behavior too. It shows how your brain reacts to what you feel.

Your Body Talks

Your body is like a special messenger. When you’re tired, you yawn. When you’re hungry, you might say "I want a snack!" These are all behaviors, and they help others understand how you're feeling without needing words.

Behaviors are just the way your brain says, “Hey, I’m happy!” or “I need a hug!”, using actions instead of magic.
