Behavior: Definition, Types, and Mechanisms

Behavior is simply what something does, and types are the different kinds that thing can be. Think of your toy box.

Behavior is action. It is what happens when you touch, pull, or push something. If you pull a rubber band, it stretches. That stretching is its behavior. If you squeeze a stress ball, it squishes flat. That squishing is its behavior. Behavior is just the "what it does" part.

Types are groups. Imagine you have three friends: a cat, a dog, and a fish. They are all animals, but they are different types of animals. A cat purrs. A dog barks. A fish swims. Even though they are all animals, their behaviors show us their different types.
