What are articles?

Articles are like helpers that make sentences clearer and more friendly.

Imagine you're playing with your toys. If you say, "Ball is on the floor," it's fine, but if you say, "The ball is on the floor," it feels a little more complete, like you’re pointing at that specific ball instead of just any ball. That "the" is an article, and it helps us know we're talking about a particular thing.

There are two main kinds of articles: "a" or "an", and "the".

What "a" or "an" Does

When you say "A toy is in the box," it’s like saying any toy, not a specific one. It's like you're opening the box and seeing a red car, or a blue dinosaur, you don’t know which one yet.

What "the" Does

But if you say "The toy is in the box," it’s like you already know which one it is. Maybe you saw it earlier, or someone told you about it. It's like pointing at that exact toy, the one that was hidden under the couch!

Articles are just helpers that make our sentences more clear and fun to read.
