What are alternatives?

Alternatives are different choices you can make when you want something, but there’s more than one way to get it.

Imagine you’re hungry and want a snack. You could pick an apple, or you could pick a cookie instead. Both are snacks, but they're different options, that's what alternatives mean!

Like Picking Your Favorite Toy

Think about when you go to the toy store. If you like cars, you might choose a red car. But if that one is too expensive, you could pick a blue car instead. Both are cars, but they’re different alternatives.

Sometimes Alternatives Are Hidden

Sometimes you don’t even realize there are other choices until someone shows them to you. Like when you want juice, you might always get orange juice, but there’s also grape juice, apple juice, or even mango! All of those are alternatives too.

So next time you're choosing something, remember: alternatives are just other good ways to make your choice.
