What are air raids?

Air raids are when planes or vehicles drop things on a city to make it hard for people inside to live comfortably.

Imagine you're playing a game of hide-and-seek, and instead of just hiding, your friend throws leaves at you from above. That's kind of like an air raid, but with bigger, stronger things.

Sometimes they drop bombs, which are big, heavy balls that explode when they hit the ground. It’s like when you drop a really heavy book on your foot, only way bigger and much more powerful. These bombs can break buildings, make loud noises, and even light things on fire.

People inside the city might run for shelter, like hiding under tables or going into basements. It's like when you hide under your bed during a thunderstorm, but with more noise and bigger surprises!

Sometimes they drop other things, too, like little boxes that float down and make smoke so people can't see clearly. That’s like having a fog machine in the middle of your room, it makes everything messy and confusing.
