Like a Crowd in the Playground
Imagine you're at a playground, and everyone is standing still. Then suddenly, a group of kids near you all start running toward the swings. The people behind them have no choice but to move forward too, it's like a chain reaction. That’s what happens with air.
When Air Gets Pushed or Pulls
When something pushes air, like when you blow on a dandelion, or when the sun warms up the ground and makes the air rise, that air moves. It's just like when you push a friend on a swing, they go higher!
Sometimes, cool air comes from somewhere else and pulls the warm air with it, making the air move in the opposite direction. This is how winds are made, like when you feel a breeze on your face after running outside.
Air moves all around us every day, and it's what makes weather change, helps planes fly, and even gives your hair that fun little dance!
Examples
- The wind outside your window is caused by air moving from a high-pressure area to a low-pressure area.
- When you blow out birthday candles, you're creating a small air move that pushes the flame away.
