What are adrenaline and noradrenaline?

Adrenaline and noradrenaline are like the super-boosters your body uses when you're excited or scared.

Imagine you’re playing tag at the park, and suddenly someone yells, "You're it!" Your heart starts beating faster, your legs feel stronger, and you run faster than ever. That’s adrenaline helping you out, like a little rocket engine inside your body that kicks in when you need to go extra fast or extra strong.

Now imagine you’re waiting for something really important, like your favorite ice cream truck. You're sitting still, but your brain is buzzing with anticipation. That’s noradrenaline, it helps keep you alert and ready for action without making you run around like a puppy.

How They Work

Think of your body as a team:

  • Adrenaline is the sprinter, it gets you moving quickly when you need to react.
  • Noradrenaline is the watcher, it keeps you focused and ready for what’s coming next.

Sometimes they work together, like when you’re about to ride a roller coaster, your heart pounds (adrenaline) and you stay tense and excited (noradrenaline). It's like having two amazing friends who help you face big moments!
