Time Experiment: How long should you cook your STEAK?

You're trying to figure out how long to cook your steak, like it's a fun little puzzle you and your dinner are playing together.

Imagine your steak is like a sleepy kid who needs just the right amount of time to wake up and be delicious. If you leave it too short, it’s still sleepy, too soft, like a pillow that hasn’t been fluffed yet. But if you cook it too long, it gets all grumpy and tough, like wearing socks inside out.

Here's how it works:

The Cook Time Clock

  • Rare steak is like a kid who just woke up, cooked for about 2 minutes on each side.
  • Medium-rare is like a kid who’s halfway through breakfast, 3 to 4 minutes per side.
  • Well-done is like a kid who's been running around all day, cooked for 5 minutes or more on each side.

You can even check how done your steak is by touching it, just like you touch your cheeks when you're warm. If it feels soft and squishy, it’s still sleepy; if it feels firm, it's fully awake and ready to be eaten!
