Water is valuable when it’s scarce, and gems are special because they’re rare, just like things we value in life!
Imagine you have a bag of marbles, and all your friends want them too. If there are a lot of marbles, they aren’t as special anymore. But if there are only a few, everyone wants them more because they're rare.
That's how we decide what something is worth, by how much people want it and how hard it is to get.
How rarity affects value
If you have a toy that only one other kid in the whole school has, it feels like treasure! But if everyone has the same toy, it doesn’t feel as special anymore. That’s rarity, when something is not easy to find.
What people want matters too
Sometimes, even if something isn’t rare, it can be really valuable because people want it a lot. Like chocolate on a hot day, everyone wants it, so it feels extra good, even if there's plenty of it around!
So value comes from how much people want something and how hard it is to get, just like marbles, toys, or even water! Water is valuable when it’s scarce, and gems are special because they’re rare, just like things we value in life!
