Silk and cotton are two different kinds of fabrics, like how apples and oranges are different kinds of fruit.
Silk is smooth and shiny, like a slippery banana peel, you can slide your hand over it easily. It feels soft and warm, like being wrapped in a cozy blanket on a cold day.
Cotton is more like a fluffy cloud, it’s soft and squishy, and when you wear it, it feels like you’re wearing something from the inside of a pillow. It's also easier to wash and doesn’t get wrinkled as easily as silk.
What Makes Them Feel Different
Silk comes from silkworms, which spin really strong threads around themselves, kind of like how spiders make webs. These threads are very fine, making silk feel extra smooth.
Cotton comes from cotton plants. The fluffy parts you see on a cotton ball are actually tiny seeds covered in soft fibers. When we weave those fibers together, we get the cozy fabric you wear on your favorite pajamas.
So, if you like something that feels like a slippery banana peel or a squishy pillow, now you know which fabric to pick!
