Prime numbers are like special building blocks in math. They can only be divided by 1 and themselves, no other number fits into them evenly! Think of it this way: if you have 7 candies, you can't split them equally among groups of 2, 3, or 4 people without leftovers. That's because 7 is a prime number!
Examples
- If you have 13 marbles, you can't split them evenly among groups of 2 or 3, that’s because 13 is a prime number!
- 2 is the only even prime number, all other even numbers are divisible by 2.
