Polyester or Silk ? How To Tell The Difference ??

Polyester and silk are two kinds of fabrics, and you can tell them apart by how they feel and behave.

Imagine you're wearing a shirt, if it feels smooth and soft like your favorite pajamas, it might be silk. Silk is made from tiny threads that come from silkworms, which is kind of like nature’s own thread factory!

Now, if the shirt feels more like plastic or something you’d find in a lunch bag, firm and maybe even a little bumpy under your fingers, it might be polyester. Polyester is made by humans using chemicals, and it's used to make clothes that are strong and don’t wrinkle easily.

• Silk feels soft, smooth, and almost slippery.
• Polyester feels firmer, smoother, and sometimes a little rougher, like the inside of a plastic bottle.

If you pull on each fabric:

• Silk stretches easily and goes back to its shape.
• Polyester is stiffer and doesn’t stretch as much.
