Nano World - What is NANO? How small is nano?

A nano is super tiny, so tiny that you can’t see it even with a magnifying glass.

Imagine a grain of sand. It’s something you touch every day. Now think about how many grains of sand could fit on the tip of your finger. That’s a lot! But a nano is like one grain of sand divided by 10,000, or even smaller!

How small is nano?

If you had a bunch of nanos, and you stacked them all together, it would take about a million of them to make something as small as a human hair. That’s like having a million tiny little friends standing one on top of the other, just to match the size of something you can see!

So, when we say something is made of nano, it means it's built from pieces so small that they work in ways we don’t usually notice, like how some materials get stronger or change color when you look really closely. A nano is super tiny, so tiny that you can’t see it even with a magnifying glass.
