A Big Disappearing Act
Imagine you have a huge crowd of people at a playground. Suddenly, they all walk away into the fog. You do not see them leave one by one. They just are gone. This is what happened to many ancient armies.
Why Did They Vanish?
Sometimes these soldiers did not die in battle. They moved. Maybe the weather got too hot or cold. Maybe there was no more grass for their horses. So they walked further away to find better homes. We know them now as nomadic tribes. They left behind nothing but footprints.
How Do We Know?
Historians look at old maps and stories from neighbors who stayed behind. Sometimes archaeologists dig up pots or tools in new places where people used to live far away. It is like finding your teddy bear in a house you forgot you visited.
Examples
- A group of knights leaves their castle for warm weather.
- We find their old toys in a new village far away.
