What are the latest developments in fusion energy research?

Fusion energy is like when tiny balls of energy inside stars come together to make a super-powerful spark, and scientists are learning how to copy that here on Earth.

Fusion happens when atoms join together, releasing lots of energy, just like when you light a match, except this one is way bigger and much hotter. Scientists have been trying to recreate the inside of stars in special machines called tokamaks or stellarators.
