How to Measure Centimeters?

Measuring centimeters is like counting how many tiny steps something takes from one end to another.

Imagine you have a ruler, it’s like a long line marked with little numbers and lines. Each number is a centimeter, and the lines between them are like the steps in a staircase. To measure something, you place the zero at one end of the object and see how many centimeters fit along its length.

How to Use a Ruler

  • Put the ruler against the thing you're measuring.
  • Line up the start of the object with the zero on the ruler.
  • Look at where the other end of the object meets the ruler, that number is how long it is in centimeters!

Try It With Blocks

If you have building blocks, each block might be about 1 centimeter thick. If you stack five blocks next to each other and measure them with a ruler, they should match up to the 5 on your ruler.

It’s like playing a game of matching, how many little steps does it take for your object to reach from start to finish?
