How to Know When Your Frying Pan is Hot Enough?

You can tell your frying pan is hot enough when it starts to feel like a sunbeam on your hand, bright and warm.

Imagine you're holding a frying pan like it's a cup of hot chocolate. If the pan feels just right, like that hot chocolate you sip slowly on a chilly day, then it’s ready for cooking!

How to Check with Your Hand

Put your hand near the pan, not on it yet. Wait a second or two. If the air around the pan starts to shake, like when you blow on a candle and the flame wobbles, that means the pan is getting hot.

Now, gently touch the pan with your hand, just for a moment. If it feels warm but not too burny, like a pillow that’s been in the sun all day, then it's perfect for cooking!

When It's Too Hot

If the pan feels like it could zap your hand, like when you touch something right out of the oven, that means it's too hot. Wait a little longer or let it cool down before you start cooking.

When the pan is just right, your food will cook evenly and taste delicious!
