Imagine you have two best friends who work together to make your favorite sandwich, one makes the bread, and the other adds the filling. That’s dualism in a simple way: it means there are two separate things working together.
Two Kinds of Friends (Or Minds)
Think about your brain like a kitchen where two chefs, let's call them mind and body, work side by side.
- One chef, the body, is all about moving, running, jumping, eating.
- The other chef, the mind, is all about thinking, imagining, dreaming, remembering.
They’re different, but they need each other to make life taste good. When you think of a happy thought (the mind), it might make your body laugh or smile. When your body runs and plays (like chasing a ball), it helps the mind feel excited and joyful.
So dualism is just like having two friends who are different, but together they make everything fun!
Examples
- You imagine your brain is separate from your thoughts.
