Dunking a basketball is when you jump up and slam the ball into the basket like it's your favorite toy.
What You Need to Do
Jump high, just like when you jump on a trampoline or leap over puddles. The more you jump, the closer you get to the basket.
Grab the ball, hold it tightly in your hands, like you're holding onto your favorite stuffed animal. Don’t let go!
How You Make It Happen
Swing your arms up, imagine you’re flapping your wings like a bird. This helps you jump even higher.
Jump and slam, when you reach the top of your jump, use both hands to slam the ball into the basket. It should go thud inside, just like when you drop your biggest toy into a box.
You can practice by jumping as high as you can every day, and soon you’ll be dunking like a pro!
Examples
